Chicago police are investigating a string of air conditioner thefts in Bronzeville that all happened within the span of three weeks. The police have issued a community alert to warn residents about the unusual crime spree. The police reported that thieves stole central air conditioning units as well as condensers from five different properties around Bronzeville, and that they are now looking for the suspects. A total of five thefts have been reported since June 29. Authorities said that the thefts occurred over the last three weeks. They said that three of the reported cases occurred on June 29. In each theft, three African-American men used a variety of tools to steal the air conditioning equipment from the locations. Right now there are no suspects in custody. On June 29, the first three thefts were reported to the authorities. The first one happened at 3 am, on the 4200 blocks of South Vincennes. The next one was on 500 block of East 42nd Street at 12:43 pm. The third air conditioner was stolen around 3 pm on 4600 block of South Saint Lawrence. Another air conditioner theft occurred sometime between July 6 and 8 at 600 block of East 42nd Street. The most recent one happened on July 11 between 6:30 am and 6:30 pm at 4100 block of South Calumet. Anyone with information on the thefts is encouraged to call Chicago
